Melania Trump Has No Plans to Leave the White House While Recovering From COVID-19

It was revealed last week that President Donald Trump and Melania Trump both were diagnosed with COVID-19. The First Lady seemingly plans to stay put until she recovers, according to an administration official.

“Melania is aware of the dangers of COVID-19,” a spokesperson told CNN. “Potentially exposing others is not a risk she would take.” That means the first lady will not be visiting her husband, President Donald Trump, at Walter Reed Medical Center, where he has been undergoing treatment since Friday.

On October 2, not long after the positive results were made public, she tweeted, “Thank you for the love you are sending our way. I have mild symptoms but overall feeling good. I am looking forward to a speedy recovery.”

This morning (October 5), the First Lady wrote an update to followers. “My family is grateful for all of the prayers & support!” she said. “I am feeling good & will continue to rest at home. Thank you to medical staff & caretakers everywhere, & my continued prayers for those who are ill or have a family member impacted by the virus.”

Melania Decision

The decision by Melania to stay home and isolated (which is also in accordance with CDC guidelines) is being viewed in sharp contrast to her husband’s decision to leave the hospital yesterday (October 4) in order to drive around in a hermetically sealed SUV in order to wave at supporters who had gathered outside the area.

President Trump was faced with immediate criticism by many who questioned. Why he would risk the safety of the hundreds of people who have to mobilize. Whenever the commander in chief is on the move—including his Secret Service officers—for a public relations move or one driven by ego.

The president and the first lady are just two of the many high profile Republicans who have tested positive for the coronavirus in the past few days. Kellyanne Conway, Chris Christie, Hope Hicks, and three senators are among them. On Monday, October 5, it was revealed that Trump press secretary Kayleigh McEnany has also tested postive.

Many affected were present during a White House event. During which Trump nominated judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat on the Supreme Court. Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen, Joe and Jill Biden have all tested negative, according to reports.
