Hardly a shock: Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez would prefer Trump out of office. Speaking virtually with former vice president Joe Biden and Jill Biden, the superstar couple explained why they are endorsing the Democratic nominee for president in the upcoming election.

Rodriguez said he wants “to come together as a team to defeat COVID” and to repair the economy. Lopez added, “For me, it’s unifying the nation again, getting rid of this hate. Thinking about my kids walking around in a world where it’s okay to be racist or prejudice because our administration says it’s okay. That, to me, is really sad, because it’s not the country, to me, that I believe that I grew up in.”

Pointing out that the Latino population has been especially affected by the pandemic, Lopez ask the Bidens what their plan is to contain the virus and eventually reopen the economy. The former vice president respond with a few sobering statistics: “A Latino is three times more likely to be infect by the virus than a white person. Three million unemployed [Editor’s note: This unemployment number is total, all ethnicities], two hundred thousand Dreamers are on the front lines of essential workers risking their lives…and one in three Latino small businesses are leave.”
