How One Freelancer Has Found Financial Success on Fiverr, Even in the Midst of a Pandemic

Jess Herring is Proof That Freelancing Websites Are Not Too Saturated

This year has been a devastating one for so many people who have lost their jobs, their loved ones, and their incomes. The restructuring of society as we once knew it has made certain industries obsolete, while other internet-only troves, like freelancing online, have flourished. As more businesses than ever before head online to connect with their clients since in-person foot traffic is a thing-of-the-past, they are looking for freelancers to support their operations.

Although many people will doubt the world of freelancing by blaming the competition on “too much saturation,” one savvy freelancer, Jess Herring, knew 2020 was ripe for the taking on a site like Fiverr.com. Launching her very own freelancing storefront on the Israeli freelancing platform back in April 2020, Jess began to charge for video editing, YouTube video editing, Twitch trailer creation, and custom stream graphic packages. What she discovered next completely changed her family’s life forever.

Putting as much research as possible into the launch of her Fiverr, pouring her heart and soul into making it work for her son and herself, Jess soon discovered with the right commitment and dedication, becoming a freelancer was absolutely a reality.

“A lot of people told me it was all about luck. Sure, that’s an element of it, but what they don’t tell you is that it’s all about dedication. As my Nani used to tell me, ‘If you want something badly enough, you have to work hard for it. Nothing worth having ever comes easily,” said Jess.

The Secrets to Fiverr Success

Once Jess launched her full-time profile, she pursued two different avenues to get her first clients: posting about her services to Twitter so her friends and family knew, and utilizing the Buyer Request portal on the freelancing website.

“My longest long-term client actually came from a Buyer Request gig over one year ago, definitely proving how important it is to take advantage of this job posting part of the platform,” said Jess.

Since April, Jess says her gig prices have remained relatively the same. It’s important to her that she keep her prices affordable and fair for everyone. But don’t discount price stagnation too quickly: Jess has earned between $3,700 and $5,200 per month since starting her business. She is set to close out 2020 having made nearly $30,000, only having managed her store for roughly 8-months of the year.

It Starts with Self-Love

Having endured her fair share of trials and tribulations that made it difficult for Jess to envision a prosperous future for herself, she attributes her success thus far to her commitment of self-love. She sees every day as a journey to accepting and believing in herself, not only for her own healing, but for her son’s future. Now happily married to the love of her life with a burgeoning Fiverr business and bright opportunities on the horizon, Jess wants people everywhere to know that it’s possible to secure a lucrative income right online today.
